A pile of favorite books, a leafy green plant, a statement painting (or several), vignettes are such a good way to create a mood of calmness and serenity.  An unused corner can be the perfect spot for a tiny table or shelf to arrange those extras that, you just don’t know where to put them!  Properly curated, a boring Ikea bookshelf becomes a treasure trove of memories, and a simple table is a repository for peace.
